Multimaterial from Files – Free 3ds Max Script

$0.00

Multimaterial from Files is a free 3ds Max script that automatically generates a complete Multi/Sub-Object material from a set of image files.
It creates one submaterial per image — using your preferred renderer’s material type — and assigns the multimaterial directly to the selected objects.
You can optionally add a Material Modifier to preview or animate the textures effortlessly.

Description

Multimaterial from Files lets you pick multiple image files from your drive and creates one material per file, with the image assigned as diffuse texture, and builds a multimaterial with all of them. Then assigns the multimaterial to the selected objects.

Features

  • It optionally adds a Material Modifier to the object/s so you easily visualize or animate the textures on them.
  • 6 material types supported for submaterials (from several render engines): Physical material, Arnold Standard Surface, VRay material, Corona material, FStorm, Standard material.

Here’s a video showing how it works.

This tool is ideal when you need to populate scenes with numerous textures — such as product variations, decals, labels, patterns, or randomized surface details. By automating the entire material-building process, it eliminates repetitive manual work and ensures consistent shader creation across all render engines.
With the optional Material Modifier, you can quickly preview random textures or drive animations in a procedural way, making it a practical addition for archviz, motion graphics, and asset creation workflows.

Compatibility: 3ds Max 2015 and higher
Last Update: version 1.02, 12/02/2024.
