If you already own Spline Cleaner v1.x, you may be wondering what the release of v2 means for you. This page explains your upgrade options, what happens to your current license, and how both versions can be used.
What’s new in v2
Spline Cleaner v2 is a major new version of the plugin:
- Completely redesigned user interface, now organized in tabs.
- Expose Loose Ends. Instantly shows the open ends of your splines in the viewport.
- Expose Overlapping Vertices. Highlights overlapping vertices so you can spot them at a glance.
- Custom viewport markers with adjustable size and color, much easier to see than 3ds Max’s native ones.

A paid major upgrade, at half price for you
Unlike the regular updates released throughout the v1.x lifecycle, v2 is a paid major upgrade. It’s the first one in Spline Cleaner’s history: every v1.x update has been free.
As an existing customer, you don’t need to pay the full price. Any Spline Cleaner v1.x license — active or expired — gives you 50% off the current price of v2, for either the Lifetime or the 1-Year license.
And if you bought your license recently, the upgrade is free:
- v1.x Lifetime purchased on or after October 1, 2025 → free upgrade to v2 Lifetime.
- v1.x 1-Year purchased on or after April 1, 2026 → free upgrade to v2 1-Year, starting a new full year from the day you upgrade. Or, if you prefer, upgrade to v2 Lifetime with the 50% discount.

Each code works only for the customers it applies to, and can be used once. If a code isn’t accepted (for example, because you no longer use the email address of your original purchase), please contact us and we’ll sort it out.
Free upgrades can be claimed until December 31, 2026.
You don’t have to upgrade
Nothing changes for your current installation:
- Your v1.x license remains valid, and you can keep using v1.x as long as it remains compatible with your system.
- v1.x will receive critical updates for at least one year after the v2 release, whenever they’re needed to keep it working normally. They’ll be published on the updates page and announced by email.
- Customer support for v1.x continues.
- New feature development will focus on v2.
v1.x and v2 can live side by side
v1.x and v2 are independent versions. They can be installed and used on the same computer without interfering with each other, and they use separate license keys. So v2 needs its own activation, and upgrading doesn’t modify or invalidate your v1.x installation.
This means you can install the v2 Trial, try it with your own scenes, and decide calmly. Your v1.x installation stays exactly as it is.
Why is v2 a paid upgrade?
v2 isn’t a maintenance update. The redesigned interface and the new tools represent substantial development work, well beyond the incremental improvements and bug fixes that characterized the v1.x updates.
At the same time, we want existing customers to have a clear and fair path to the new version. That’s why every v1.x owner gets 50% off, and recent buyers upgrade for free.
